Erin was raised in Northwest Montana. She graduated high school in Idaho in 1949, enlisted in the US Navy in 1951. Graduated boot camp at Bainbridge in Maryland, and attended Yeoman 'A' School. She met her husband, Gerald F. Dooley, when they were both stationed at Anacostia in 1953. They were married at the US Naval Academy chapel at Annapolis in 1954. Jerry and Erin had three children: Allison Dooley, Robin Dooley, and Mary Jo Dooley. Erin's grandparents were Juanita Olive Pressey Bush (Memorial # 67713234) and Virgil Elias (Rose)Bush (Memorial # 39214689), and Blanche Ada Gardham Perkins and Philip Aden Perkins. (DNA testing has shown that Stanley, Danny and Erin had half-brothers, the Lawson twins, children of their father Ray Perkins and Charlotte Gobert in 1940.)
