After resting in state at the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union, Funeral Services for John S. Sibole, 64, were held on Tuesday, June 23, from the First Baptist Church in Union at 3:00 p.m. by Rev. Earl Burnside and Rev. Robert Lawson. Burial followed in Midlawn Memorial Gardens at Union.
John S. Sibole was born on August 3, 1905 at Sullivan, the son of the late Ashford Sibole, and his wife Rosie, nee Deaton and died on Sunday, June 21, at the St. Francis Hospital in Washington.
He received his schooling near Sullivan, and grew to young man-hood in that community.
On Oct. 8, 1932 he married Miss Cecil Bailey an Union and one son was born to this marriage. They made their home in Union where Sibole was employed in the Brown Shoe Company and the International Shoe Co., at St. Clair, for a number of years. He more recently was employed by the Union School District in school maintenance.
He was united with the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in 1940 and later transferred his membership to the First Baptist Church in Union. He served as a Deacon and was a faithful and active member.
Survivors are his wife Cecil Sibole of Union, one son Robert L. Sibole of Minot Air Force Base in N. Dakota; five grandchildren, Robert L. Sibole Jr., Barry Ray, Bradley Joseph, Suzette Michelle, and Suzanne Rachelle Sibole; six brothers, Jake Sibole, Joe, Ren and Bob Sibole all of California; Earl Sibole of St. Clair, and Fred Sibole of Sullivan; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Anderson of Sullivan, Mrs. Bethy Anderson and Mrs. Mary Gilbert, both of California; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Josie Bailey of St. Clair; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
