Joanne Monica Perri
May 3, 1928 - April 5, 2022

Joanne Monica Richards Perri, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon April 5, 2022 of natural causes. She was at home surrounded by her family and friends. Joanne was born May 3, 1928 to Kenneth and Monica Richards. She grew up in Reedsport, Ore. She attended St. Mary's Academy in Portland and went on to Seattle University, where in 1950 she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in science. On Aug. 19, 1950, Joanne married the love of her life, Frank Perri. They relocated to Albany, Ore., where she attended Oregon State University intent on pursuing a career in medicine. Plans in medicine were halted with the birth of her first child in 1952.
In 1954 Joanne and Frank relocated permanently to Portland where they shared 52 years in a loving marriage.
Joanne's love for art lead her to open Gallery West in Raleigh Hills in 1970, with close friend Ann LaRiviere, which quickly grew to become one of the two largest art galleries in Portland. Joanne and Ann represented many of the top painters, sculptors, and ceramic talent in the Pacific NW.
Joanne was blessed with a quick wit, an exceptional memory, and a crazy, offbeat sense of humor. Her favorite food was ice cream and, fittingly, the last meal she consumed was a small bowl of vanilla caramel swirl. She enjoyed a lifelong love of theater and the arts. She was a devout Catholic, a founding parishioner and enthusiastic supporter of St. John Fisher parish, an avid reader, and a snappy dresser. She had an abiding love and fierce loyalty to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Frank predeceased her in July 2002. Joanne was also preceded in death by her youngest child, Brian; her sweet daughter-in-law, Sheryl Perri; and her only sibling, Mike Richards. She is survived by her children, Chris (Alana), Tim (Anne), Lisa Cato (Matt), Mike, Julie Perri; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon, Friday, April 22, 2022, at St. John Fisher Church, 4581 S.W. Nevada St., Portland, OR. A rosary will be held at 11:30 prior to the service. A gathering of family and friends will follow with food and refreshments in Corrado Hall located next door to the church.
