Wayne Pearson, age 71, passed away Thursday, April 14th, 2022, in his daughter's home in Superior, WI surrounded by his children after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on May 19, 1950, the son of Ernest and Orien (Larson) Pearson and grew up in the Duluth Heights area.

Wayne attended Central High School and joined the US Navy in December of 1969. He served during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Ranger as a Boatswain's Mate. During his service he was awarded the National Defense and Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

He settled in Cloquet, MN to raise a family and then later went on to be a truck driver, driving in the Twin Ports, Arizona, Hawaii, and Nevada before returning to Duluth. He was a member of the Northland Vietnam Veteran's Association and marched in parades carrying a Tiger cage that POWs were held in and was also in the Honor Guard until he was unable to march anymore due to his arthritis. He also was member of the DAV, the Moose Lodge #708 in Phoenix, the Elks Lodge in Scottsdale, and the VFW in Chandler, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Pearson; brother-in-law, Dennis Sorenson; and sister-in-law, Judy Pearson.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Darren) Koval; son, Nick Pearson; grandsons: James and Reid Koval; siblings: Dennis Pearson, Diane Sorenson, and Ronald (Marsha) Pearson; sister-in-law, Patricia Pearson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment will be held in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Saginaw with Military Honors.
