George W. McKinney, Jr., 77, of Harleysville, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Mahan) McKinney to whom he was married for over 45 years.

Born November 16, 1944, in Norristown, he was a son of the late George W. Sr. and Bertha (Rose) McKinney. George worked diligently throughout his life. In 1993, George and his wife Kathleen formed Springer Financial Group, Ltd, specializing in mortgage financing. George continued in Financial Services and Real Estate until his passing.

George, fondly known as "Bill" by his siblings, dedicated his life to volunteer service. George was a Life Member of Harmonville Fire Company, serving as a Fire Police Officer, since October 1974. George was a Life Member with the Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Police Association for 48 years. George served as 2nd Vice President at the time of his passing and in several positions throughout the years including Treasurer for over 20 years. George was a Life Member with Plymouth Ambulance since 1965, serving as a volunteer with his mentor, John Durante, former Montgomery County Sheriff. John Durante also appointed George to the DARE program for Montgomery County.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Shaun McKinney, and grandson, Jackson, of Allen, TX; his daughter, Lisa McKinney and her fiancé, Michael Mazur of Lansdale; and eight remaining siblings residing throughout the country.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 11 AM on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1802 W. Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422, where the family will greet friends from 10-11 AM. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
