Mary Elizabeth Carter Geter was born Sept. 7, 1929. She left us Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008. She was a resident of Zachary and a native of Woodville, Miss.
She is survived by a son, Henry Parham Geter III, and daughter-in-law, Connie Jackson Geter, of Zachary. They gave her wonderful, loving care in her later years. She has a granddaughter, Amber Geter Thorne, of Zachary, who will always be her "Darling Heart;" two great-grandchildren, Jackson Hollis Thorne and John Henry Parham Thorne, both of Zachary, her "Sugar Man and Little Man" were the light in her eyes. She is also survived by an older brother, W.V. Carter, of Woodville; a very dear niece, Mona Carter Whitaker, of Woodville; a great-nephew, Warren Whitaker II, of Woodville; and two great-nieces, Mona Whitaker Harrison, of Woodville, and Lacy Whitaker Rice, of Sumiton, Ala.; and another special daughter-in-law, Donnis Geter, of Slidell.
She was preceded in death in 1949 by her husband, Henry Parham Geter Jr. He had always remained the only love of her life. She was also preceded in death by her oldest son, William Parham Geter; and her parents, Vernon and Doris Carter.
Arrangements entrusted to Charlet Funeral Home in Zachary. Visiting at Newman Funeral Home in Woodville until service with the Rev. Warren W. Whitaker Sr. officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery following services.
