JD Pierce, age 90, of Harrogate, Tennessee, was born May 24, 1931 and passed away April 6, 2022 at the VA Hospital Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a long time member of Pump Springs Baptist Church and loved his family with all his heart. JD was a skilled carpenter who delighted in helping his children, family and friends with building and improving their homes. JD was married for more than sixty years to the love of his life, Wilma L. Pierce. The two resided for many years in Bellevue, Ohio having four children.

He was preceded in death by wife Wilma L. Pierce, his parents John William and Rose Mae (Colburn) Pierce, grandchild Alex Taylor Massengill, siblings OB, Dwight and Marion Pierce, Edith Powell, Ruth Prichard, Helen Hyde, and Nina Fay Aderholdt.

He is survived by his children; son: James David Pierce and wife Regina of Georgetown, Kentucky; daughters: Debra Rose Arterburn and husband Jim of New Tazewell, Tennessee, Lisa Ann Cox and late husband Billy R. of LaFollettee, Tennessee, and Julie Marie Massengill and husband Michael Lance of Glasgow, Kentucky. Sisters; Betty Joyce Starkey and late husband Paul of North Fairfield, Ohio, Myrl Dean-Jonnie Pierce of Bellevue, Ohio, and Katherine Gail Hansard and husband Ronnie of Tazewell, Tennessee. Grandchildren: Ryan James Pierce and wife Jennifer, Scott David Pierce and wife Tiffany, Joshua Tanner Campbell, Sandra Grace Arterburn, Heather Renee Cox, Colby Hunter Cox, Patricia Jennings and husband Thomas, Eric Michael Massengill and wife Chelsea, and Casey Marie Baccus and husband Chase. Great grandchildren: Nathaniel Pierce, R.J. Pierce, Anna Pierce, Aubrey Pierce, Austin Jennings, and Isaac Jennings. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday April 9th from 12 until 2 PM at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate. The funeral service will be at 2 PM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel in Harrogate. A graveside service will follow in the Moody Cemetery with military honors.
