In 1958 she married James F. Hicks. For the next 20 years they lived the military life and welcoming their children: James F. Hicks, Jr; Susan (Chris) Dick; Patricia Hansen; and Michelle (Jim) Tyler.
Judy never knew a stranger and made many friends through the years. Judy spent her early years volunteering for many activities. She was always at school activities, sporting events, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts. She arranged entertainment for the troops at Fort Hood, Texas during the Vietnam war. After her children were older, she went back to school and worked as a bookkeeper in Mesa, Arizona. Later, she enjoyed traveling with her long-time partner, Robert (Bud) Boures, prior to his passing in 1994. Judy spent many winters in Arizona and summers on Mackinac Island. She was an avid Harry Potter fan and always had several sewing projects that she was going to finish one day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both brothers (Tom and Roy Chapman), and twin infant sons Kevin and Keith. She is survived by her children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, plus many friends and extended family who called her "Grandma Judy". Her beloved Yorkie-Poo, Buddy, who provided many years of cherished companionship, also survives.
Per her wishes, a cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral or visitation. Memorial wishes can be donated in Judy's name to Rose Arbor Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
