WINDSOR Linda D. (Axe) Markel, 58, died at home Monday, January 7, 2008. She was the wife of William H. "Bill" Markel. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with the family's retired pastor, the Rev. Stephany S. Seachrist, officiating. A visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Linda was born March 9, 1949, in York, a daughter of the late Nelson Webb and Margaret (Detta) Wolfe. She married Bill Markel on January 16, 1966, and settled in Windsor. Linda was employed with Gichner Shelter Systems for over 20 years as an assembler. She enjoyed country music and shopping. She was a great baker and cook. Linda always attended the York Fair and loved to go to the shore. Linda was a fighter and battled hard against her cancer. Linda is survived by two sons, William R. Markel and his companion, Jill Thomas of York, and Brian K. and his wife, Jonna Markel of Craley; four grandchildren; two brothers, Michael and his wife, Cindy Axe of Dallastown, and James Axe of Windsor; four half brothers, Ray, Christopher, Larry, and Roger Axe; a sister, Wendy Hirt of Windsor; a half sister, Darlene Ely; and her Himalayan cat, Fluffy. Two brothers, Irvin and Dennis Axe, preceded her in death.
