Mrs. Janice Diane Richardson Thompson, 78, of Pelham, AL, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Shelby Baptist Hospital in Alabaster, AL.

Mrs. Janice was born in Natchez, MS on October 22, 1943 and was the daughter of J.D. Richardson and Elois Tarver Cothern. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Valleydale Baptist Church. She loved to go shopping and would spend all day when she went. When she wasn't able to get out and shop anymore, she then found the Home Shopping channel and loved to order things from there. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, and painting. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandbaby and her fur babies. She loved to cook and bake and was known for her many delicious dishes. She was a loving and caring person and not just for her family. At one time in her life, she met a lady who was a co-worker. After about a year of working with her, this lady was diagnosed with brain cancer and had no family to care for her. Mrs. Janice then took her in her home and became her caretaker until the lady passed. This was the type of person she was. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Howard Cothern; her husband of 60 years, Robert Ray Thompson; two brothers, Donnie Joe Cothern and Tommy Lee Cothern, and one sister, Quida Dupree.

She is survived by her three sons; Mitchell Thompson and Jan of Helena, AL, Craig Thompson of Utica, MS, and Greg Thompson and Renee of Utica, MS; five grandchildren, Brooke Thompson Aloia and Riley, Cody Thompson, Cole Thompson, Brock Thompson and Cassidy, and Brody Thompson; one great-grandchild, Briar Elias Aloia, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 from 2:30PM until 3:30PM at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS with a graveside service following at 4PM in the Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, MS with Dr. David Millican officiating.

Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.
