Martha was born on March 11, 1934, in Breckenridge, MO, to Jacob Howard and Elsie M. (Spidle) Brewer. She graduated from the Breckenridge High School in 1952. Martha then was united in marriage to Elton Gaines on September 21, 1952, in Breckenridge. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing when her children were younger, crocheting, quilting, reading, and completing puzzles with her husband. She was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church and had helped with Bible School many times, as well as being a caretaker to many members of her family.
Preceding Martha in death were her parents; her husband, Elton, in 2021; son, Clayton Gaines; and daughter-in-law-Linda Gaines.
Survivors: children-Mark Gaines, Breckenridge; Chuck (Debbie) Gaines, Hamilton; and Carol (Doug) Henderson, Hamilton; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law-Peggy Gaines, St. Joseph, MO.
Cremation has been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton, MO.
