Born Aug. 3, 1933, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Richard and Marion Hartman Jackson.
He was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955, and earned the rank of corporal.
He was married to the former Marqueen Williams until her passing on April 6, 2012. They resided in West Nanticoke until building their home on Sorbertown Hill in 1978.
Richard was a service technician with Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company, retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service.
He was affiliated with the Hunlock Creek United Methodist Church, where his wife was a member. Richard was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman, and was an avid Phillies fan.
In addition to his wife, Marqueen, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Jackson.
Surviving are his son, Richard Jackson and his wife, Carrie, Tilbury Terrace, West Nanticoke; a daughter, Deborah Hinz and her husband, Robert, Hunlock Creek; grandchildren, Richard M. Jackson and his wife, Mary Ann; Heidi Hinz and her partner, Robert Miranda; and Jason Hinz and his wife, Andrea; great-grandchildren, Johanna Jean Hinz and Lincoln Hinz; brothers, Frease Jackson, Hunlock Creek; and James Sabol and his wife, Joyce, Dallas; as well as nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service was held from Clarke Piatt Funeral Home, Hunlock Creek, with interment in Sorbertown Cemetery.
