Mr. Davis was a graduate of Harrisburg High School, where he played football and baseball. He always loved going home to Harrisburg to visit. Mr. Davis retired in 1996 after a career working as a field engineer at SteelCraft Corporation.
He was a creative soul, and enjoyed reading and writing poetry, and listening to music and singing. Mr. Davis collected knives and belt buckles, and loved the Arkansas Razorbacks.
He was a kind man. People always commented on how sweet and kind hearted he was.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Inez (Johnson) Davis; one brother, Terry Davis; one sister, Faye Moon; his parents; and his dogs, Bug and Gnat.
He is survived by one son, Kenneth Harold Davis, Jr., of Bartlett, Tennessee; one daughter, Nita Kaye Whitson and special friend, Delbert McGarrity of Pearl, Mississippi; grandchildren, Justin, Andrea, and Elijah Jacob Whitson; great-grandchildren, Emma Rose Whitson, Joseph Hodges, Amber Hodges, and Alanah Hodges; three great-great grandchildren, Luke, Landyn, and Alllison; one brother, Darryl Davis and wife, Janet, of Harrisburg; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel Thursday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Keith Davis, Justin Whitson, Jacob Whitson, Delbert McGarrity, Zach Davis, and Darryl Davis; Paul and Jerry Davis will serve as honorary pallbearers.
