Patricia Dawn Shay, 57, of Baldwin City, Kansas died Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS.

She was born February 16, 1964 in Gardner, KS, the daughter of Donald Francis Shay and Viola Velma (Culbertson) Shay, one of six siblings including her twin brother, Donald.

Patricia grew up in the Baldwin City area and graduated from Baldwin High School with the class of 1982. She enjoyed playing basketball growing up and was a key member of the 1982 State Champion team for BHS.

She served our country in the United States Air Force for six years and was stationed in Montana and Guam.

Patricia was the definition of a hard worker. Her main career was with the University of Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute as an office manager.

She was married and divorced three times, her most recent marriage was to Bruce Myres to whom she remained friends.

Patricia is survived by a daughter, Cassandra Mayo, Baldwin City, KS; two brothers, Norman Shay and wife, Cindy, Overland Park, KS, Gregory Shay and wife, Margie, Baldwin City, KS; two sisters, Karen Shay, Baldwin City, KS, Valerie Worley and husband, Lewis, Baldwin City, KS; three grandchildren, Zach Mayo, Josh Mayo, and Alicia Mayo-Hudspeth, all of Baldwin City, KS; and six nieces and nephews, Kelly Shay Berg, Jenny Shay Acosto, Joey Shay, Lisa Shay Quinn, Nathan Worley, and Jason Worley.

Cremation services have been selected. A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Big Bull Creek Park, 20425 Sunflower Rd, Edgerton, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the Patricia Shay Memorial Fund and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
