Gary Lane Clifton, 76, of Geneseo, Kansas, passed away January 22, 2022, at his home. He was born August 25, 1945, in Lyons, the son of A.D. and Maxine Rathbun Clifton. Gary has resided in Geneseo for the past twenty-two years, formerly of Sylvan Grove, Kansas where he resided for twenty years. He graduated from Lyons High School, Lyons, with the class of 1964, and later graduated from McPherson College in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture. Gary was a feed salesman and district manager for Moorman's Feed and raised and sold mules and donkey's for over forty years. He served in the United States Army Reserve for six years. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons, Ellsworth American Legion Post #174, and lifetime member of the NRA. Gary was also a member and served on the board of directors for the Colorado Mule Riders Association. He was an avid trail rider, enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing, visiting with people, and most of all spending time with his family and friends. On August 27, 1966, Gary was united in marriage with Donetta Nelson in Lyons. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his three children, Sarah Thomas and husband Jason of Tonganoxie, KS, Warren Clifton and wife Christy of Panama City, FL, and Wyatt Clifton and wife Kristina of Hutchinson, KS; two sisters, Peggy Wade and husband Dennis of Topeka, KS, and Janet Schroeder and husband Tom of Sheridan, WY; eight grandchildren, Kyleigh Thomas, Jocie Thomas, Cassandra Payne, Madison Clifton, Sydney Clifton, Ryleigh Clifton, Emerson Clifton, and Asher Clifton; and one great-granddaughter, Penelope Payne. Gary was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons, with Pastor Kenton Abbott officiating. Burial will follow at Geneso Cemetery, Geneseo, with military honors. Visitation will from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may given to Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
