Joseph Mayo, 90, of North Syracuse, died peacefully in his home with his loving family by his side. Joseph retired in 1985 from D.W. Winkelman as vice president after working with the company for 25 years. He was a WWII veteran and served in N. Africa, Italy and France as an interpreter with the Department of Intelligence. Joseph graduated from Syracuse University in 1939. He was a loving, gentle family man who provided support and advice to family throughout his life.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Angela Neri, in December 2003. Survived by his daughter, Cara Mayo; son, Joseph; grandchildren, Jennifer (Shawn Sitar), Jessica (Jason) Rice, Jared Gruber and Oren (Mariel) Gruber; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pirro & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hour will be held Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m., 514 Turtle Street, Syracuse.
