Maj. Dennis C. Brown, US Army (RET) was welcomed into his Savior's arms on the morning of Friday, April 8, 2022 at Augusta University Medical Center.

Dennis was a native of Altoona, Pennsylvania and attended East Stroudsburg University. In 1969, he joined the United States Army. He was accepted into West Point and graduated from there in 1974. He received a master's degree from the Post Naval Graduate School in Monterey, California. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church.

Though he flew several different aircrafts during his twenty-two years of decorated service while active duty, Dennis turned to sailing shortly after military retirement. An avid sailor and mariner, Dennis volunteered with the US Coast Guard auxiliary. While working as a financial advisor at First Command Financial Services (formerly USPA & IRA), his love for the freedom of the mariner lifestyle only grew. First as a member of the Augusta Sailing Club, he later expanded his horizons, literally, by earning his US Coast Guard Captain's License. He balanced his time between land and sea by planning and navigating several solo and one accompanied trip down the east coast and into the Caribbean bouncing from island to island for weeks or months at a time. Between trips, Dennis worked with Securitas part time providing security for such organizations as Mercedes Benz of Augusta and The Augusta National. Dennis served a Gideon and was a member of the West Point Society.

He departed this world like he lived in it; fearlessly, surrounded by love, on his own terms, and with no regrets.

Dennis is survived by the love of his life, Shelia Eva Knighton Brown, their children; Michele Angelique, Rebecca Elizabeth Keske (Mike) and Jessica Jeanne, his grandchildren; Sheila, Ethan and Morgan and his brothers; Jordy Brown and Jeddy Brown.

Celebration of Life services will be located at Warren Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Augusta University Medical Cancer Center.
