Barbara Cole, age 72, of Canton, passed away peacefully after a three month illness at Meadow Wind Nursing Home on Tuesday, April 5 2022. She was born August 20, 1949 in Canton, Ohio to her parents, the late William and Ethel Kirby.

In addition to her parents Barb was preceded in death by, Brother Todd (Barbara) Kirby.

She is survived by her loving son and daughter in law Chris (Linda) Cole of Perry Township, sister Marcia Kirby of Canton, sister Carolyn (Bill) Glasser of Canton, and brother Scott (Susan) Kirby of Grafton. She is also survived by her nieces Kristen (Paul) Ousley, Tanya (Mark) Blatt, and nephew Doug (Michelle) Kirby. She will be deeply missed by her son and daughter in-law Chris and Linda, her brothers and sisters, and friends that knew her.

Barb graduated from Glenwood High School. She worked hard to raise her son and was employed by Datronics, Diebolds, but most of her employment years was with the Stark County MRDD- Southgate, from which she eventually retired. Mom took great pride in raising her son Chris and never hesitated to tell him how much she loved him and was proud of the man he grew up to be. She was so happy that her son found his lovely wife, Linda, whom he married in 1992. The bond that was made between the three of us was one of a kind. Barb loved Linda as if she was her own daughter. There was always ups and downs but the three of us were best buddies with lots of laughs and great times when we were together. Mom was sort of a private person and kept to herself but she also truly had a heart of gold. She always put me first as she wanted the best for me and Linda. Growing up Mom was the "Cool Mom" in the neighborhood. She always allowed me to have friends over to play and watch sporting events with my friends as she cooked us up snacks during the Browns games when they were a good team. Mom wasn't involved in a lot of activities outside of work but in her younger years she enjoyed walking her dog Butkus at the park, playing euchre, Yahtzee, bowling, watching TV, and spending time laughing and joking around with Linda and I. Once again I cannot tell you that special bond Myself, Linda, and Mom had. So much to tell you about to express here but all the memories will always be cherished. I will say that Moms sour kraut pork and mashed potatoes on New Years Day, her pumpkin pies at Thanksgiving, her fried chicken and noodles and cherry cheesecake on our birthdays, her fudge and cutout cookies at Christmas time was off the charts fabulous!! Her cutout Christmas cookies were awesome eating them but when Linda and I would get the call to come ice them, not so fun because it seemed like she always made 500 of them. There was always leftovers from all these dinners and deserts she would make. She also over did it with Christmas presents every year as it took the three of us half a day it seemed like to open gifts. Although it was a struggle for Mom these past several years to get around because of spinal stenosis and bad knees, she did the best she could using her walker. I am very thankful for my Aunt Marcia as she helped Mom get to her doctor appointments and running errands for her in recent years. Because of an infection that started in her body in January that just wouldn't clear up Linda and I placed her in Meadow Wind Nursing Home a little over a month ago. She wasn't getting any better and the nursing home suggested comfort care which lead to compassionate care on Monday April 4th. I then called my Aunt Marcia (Moms Sister) and told her that I felt that Mom was getting worse. Aunt Marcia said she would go to the nursing home the next morning to pray for and read her some beautiful scriptures. I joined her that morning and listened to Aunt Marcia pray for Mom as Mom looked at us both in the eyes but was unable to talk at this time. Aunt Marcia and I told Mom that we loved her and left the facility. Later on that afternoon on Tuesday April 5th the compassionate care team called and let me know that she had passed. I am so grateful for that morning that aunt Marcia and I had with Mom. Mom is now in a much better place in the Heavenly Sky with no more pain and suffering which is a blessing. Thanks for reading a little story about my Mother. She will be missed and remembered forever! Linda and I would like to thank Meadow Wind Nursing Home, Pinnacle Care nursing, and Cross Road Compassionate Care for the care they gave to my Mom. All the employees were excellent from these facilities! Per Moms wishes there will be no calling hours or visitation.
