Christopher John Hickman, 57, Battle Creek, passed away April 9, 2022, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born on July 20, 1964, in Battle Creek to Denver and Carol (Penn) Hickman. Chris was a lifelong area resident and 1982 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Chris previously worked at Ken Nottke Bowl and later served as a postal carrier for USPS, Battle Creek, for over 30 years. He was an avid sports fan who will also be remembered for his dry humor, loving heart, especially for animals and kids, and ability to evade cameras. He was a phenomenal bowler, his bowling career highlighted by a perfect 300 game. Chris collected baseball cards and was a devout Detroit Tigers fan. He spent many game days with his Grandma Phyllis watching and cheering televised Tiger games. Chris married Susan L Kilpatrick in 1995. During their 26-year marriage, they enjoyed short trips. Mackinac Island was their favorite destination. Chris's parents and wife preceded him in death. He is survived by his stepmom, Gert Hickman, of Battle Creek, stepchildren Troy (Heather) Kilpatrick of Detroit, Travis (Karen) Kilpatrick of Kennesaw, GA, Tracey Ellerthorpe of Battle Creek; siblings Mary Lee (Andy) Norris and Ellen Hickman, of KS, Karen (John) Thompson of Battle Creek, and Gerald Hickman of Battle Creek, 11 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren, aunt, Andrea Stanley, 4 nephews, 3 nieces, Ian, Jessica (Justin), Tori, Austin (Josie), Emily (Scott), Luke, Desmond (Hannah), his loving dog, Spencer, and many friends. Chris especially enjoyed being with his "grands," Colin, Cameron, and Britton, and had dearly hoped to meet his great-niece, Elise, from Sweden. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 15, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services; graveside service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Rev. Gordon Pippin, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Memories and condolences may be shared at http://www.henryfuneralhome.org
