Glen Dale Cosper

May 14, 1933 – December 31, 2007

Glen Dale Cosper, 74, died at the Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital in Kerrville on December 31, 2007.

Glen was born on May 14, 1933 in Harper, Texas to William Joseph and Jessie Jo (Jeffers) Cosper. He attended school in Harper and later joined the Army, serving in WWII. He married Barbara Kathryn Davis and started a family while working with his father-in-law at the W.E. Davis Trucking Company in Uvalde, Texas. He later worked offshore with his brothers in New Iberia, Louisiana.

On September 1, 1972 he married the love of his life, Kathleen "Kitty" Kluge Simmang in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. They moved to Giddings where he continued his career with Davis Plumbing. The last 18 years of his life were spent working at Lee County Ace Hardware.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kitty; two brothers, Audley Elivo and William Thomas; and the mother of his children, Barbara Kathryn Davis Cosper.

Surviving him are his son, Warren Dale Cosper of Bandera; daughter, Glenna Kathryn and Jeff White of Del Rio; two step-sons, Don Edward and Mary Ann Simmang of Lincoln and Stephen Alan Sr. and Janet Simmang of Giddings; seven grandchildren, Josh Glen Wright, Charles Dale White, Amanda Leigh Medina, Keith and Kristi Simmang, Stephen Simmang, Jr., Ronda and Lee Dobos, and Stephanie and Quentin Fojtik; eight great-grandchildren, Brian Koy, Blake Carter, Chelsea Simmang, Chad Simmang, Hannah Pfeiffer, William Fojtik, Katherine Simmang and Taryn Fojtik; one brother, Herbert Hoover and Joyce Cosper of Mora, Illinois; four sisters, Iva Loren Sellers of Kerrville, Lois Juanita and Phillip Litterfield of Kerrville, Jo Maxine and Billie Hatley of Belton, and Mozell Ann Cowsert of Rock Springs; three nieces, nine nephews and many wonderful friends.

A funeral service was held at the Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings on January 5, 2008 with burial following at the Giddings City Cemetery. Pastor Greg Nichols presided and pall bearers included Wesley Burgdorf, Phillip Ellis, Blake Carter, Ben Cosper, Ben Cowsert and William (Bill) Sellers.
