ROBERT ARTHUR WELDON, SR.
Robert Arthur Weldon Sr.
BIRTH 18 Apr 1936
Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado, USA
DEATH 9 Feb 2003 (aged 66)
Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado, USA

PUBLISHED in Pueblo Chieftain, Pueblo, Colorado, February 11, 2003:

Robert Arthur Weldon Sr., loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, moved onto a more peaceful journey Feb. 9, 2003.

He was born in Pueblo on April 18, 1936, to Roy and Wanda Weldon. After completing the eighth grade, he began working at the age of 13 at Pueblo Country Club. His love of golf evolved and lasted a lifetime. He honed his golfing skills --- unbeknownst to his friends and children, he possessed the talents to become a professional. Robert, though, was committed to providing for his family so he continued working at the country club for 18 years.

Robert moved on to become one of the top sales representatives at Barteldes (L.L. Johnson Distributing Co). For over 20 years he traveled many miles through Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado representing Toro.

He built his own business of golf course irrigation consulting with the help of his wife and sons. Robert was a lover of golf, cowboy polo, professional wrestling and all kinds of foods. As a ball cap collector he owns over 400 caps. He was known as "UB," "Cowboy Bob" and "Baldy" and had a knack for making people laugh and getting them to pay attention.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Carol; five children, Robin (Rocky) Palmer, Roz (Jeff) White, Robert (JoAnn) Weldon, Rodney (Dana) Cascio-Weldon, all of Pueblo, and Rhondelle (Mark) Blankenship, Reno, Nev.

He will be missed by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life Service, 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, George McCarthy Historic Chapel. In gratitude to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, please make donations in Robert's name. Please share your thoughts and condolences at www.waltonfuneralhome.com
