WELCOME: A Celebration of Life Service for Mildred C. Miller, 96, of rural Welcome, Minnesota, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Fairmont, Minnesota, with Rev. Wade Daul, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park, in Fairmont, Minnesota.

Mildred was called to her eternal rest on Sunday afternoon, April 10, 2022, at her home in rural Welcome, Minnesota, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Kramer Family Funeral Home, in Welcome, and one hour prior to the services at the Church, on Friday.

Mildred Clara Steckling, was born on November 2, 1925, to Herman A. "Earl" and Minnie (Simon) Steckling, on a farm in Silver Lake Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She was baptized on December 30, 1925, and later confirmed on March 17, 1940. She attended seven different country grade schools in the area and received her education in Fairmont Schools, graduating with the class of 1943. Mildred was employed at Stokley Van Camp, 3-M, and Marie's Bridal Shop, all in Fairmont. On November 18, 1945, she was united in marriage to Laverne Miller, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Fairmont. After their marriage, they farmed and raised their family on the farm in Manyaska Township, rural Welcome. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Fairmont, and made over 450 quilt tops for the church missions. Mildred was a member of Ceylon American Legion Auxiliary, the Welcome Senior Citizens, and Birthday Club. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, and going to Perkins and Kortes. She belonged to a 500 Marathon Club and enjoyed making ceramics. Raising chickens, ducks and geese, and produce, which she sold to friends. On the farm, Mildred had a big garden, which she shared with people. She loved to travel with her family and visited every state, except Alaska.

She is survived by her daughter, Becky Madison Marten of Billings, Montana; son, Randy Miller and friend, Sandra Peters of rural Fairmont; five grandchildren: Dawn Madison, Amber (Bryce) Reynolds, James (Lynndee) Madison, Melissa (Mike) Maurer and Paul (Jessica) Miller; eight great-grandchildren: Mina, Aiden, Eijae, Cade, Cheyenne, Everly, Cody and Mashyala; nine great-great-grandchildren: Allana, Colt, Maebry, Riley, Case, Vera, Myles, Willow and Darby; sister-in-law, Eunice Eisenmenger of Fairmont; brother-in-law, Gary (Janet) Miller of rural Welcome, Minnesota; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Laverne on October 20, 2005; sons-in-law, Kenneth A. Madison and Eugene D. Marten; daughter-in-law, Connie Miller; sister-in-law, Delores and Warren Swift; and other relatives.
