Billy Burke Sanders entered his heavenly rest at Hendrick Hospice Hospital in Abilene, Texas on December 18th 2021 surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 27, 1931 to Buelle Ernest Sanders and Marie Lavone Holmgren Sanders in Deaf Smith Texas. Billy was the oldest of four sons. He had a very special relationship with each of his brothers.
In 1952 he enlisted in the United States Army. He served as a paratrooper during his service in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Master Sargent.
On July 8, 1955 Billy married the love of his life Wedia Day Sanders. They spent 66 years loving each other and raising their family.
One of the greatest joy's of Billy's life was being Poppa to his grandsons. Poppa was an avid sports fan he loved the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He was at every sports event cheering on his grandsons and great grandsons.
Billy played a mean game of domino's and though he loved Wedia Nell' with his whole heart he never "let" her win. Billy set a wonderful example of faith, fatherhood, and humanity for his children and grandchildren to follow.
Billy was a good man who loved God and his family well. We will miss him but we are grateful for his long deserved award of hearing well done they good and faithful servant.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Ricky Sanders and Barry Sanders. Two brothers Charles "Chili" Sanders, and Sheldon Sanders and one Son In Law Phillip Leonhart.
