Betty Lou Andrews was born August 11, 1935 in Coalgate, Oklahoma to John Albert and Mary (Forneris) Andrews. She died peacefully in her Oklahoma City home on April 7, 2022 under the care of Valir Hospice and accompanied by family members.

Betty attended Coalgate Schools and graduated in 1953. Later that year she moved to Oklahoma City where she began 25 years of work at Sohio Petroleum in accounting. She later worked for Grace Petroleum for another 15 years before retiring in 1993.

Having no children of her own, Betty's nieces and nephews were a great source of joy. Niece Donna fondly remembers many trips to the movies and the dollar store. One nephew claims that she gave the best back scratches. A niece recalls naming all the raisins that Betty would put in her oatmeal, "Oh this one is tall and skinny, this must be Margaret!"

Betty enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes as her large collection of cookbooks bear proof. Her famous lemon cake was a family favorite. Many of us cherish the afghans, baby blankets and sock monkeys that were made by her loving hands. Betty also enjoyed working in her yard. She was known for her green thumb and her nice tan! Always independent, she mowed her own lawn until she was in her 80's.

But Betty is probably best remembered by her love of animals, especially dogs. She was known to rescue stray dogs from parking lots. She was a loyal supporter of the ASPCA and the Oklahoma Humane Society. It was often joked that she loved dogs more than people…..at least I think it was a joke!

She is survived by her sisters, Mary June Entz of Hinton and Margaret Andrews of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Beth Andrews of Lexington; two nephews, Donnie Entz and Bobby Andrews of Hinton; and two nieces LeaAnn Entz of Hinton and Donna Smith of Lexington, OK. Betty is also survived by 11 great nieces and nephews, 12 great-great nieces and nephews with 2 more on the way and 1 great-great-great niece along with many other beloved family members and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John Albert and Mary (Forneris) Andrews; brothers, Bob Andrews and Bill Andrews; nephews Joe David Entz and John David Andrews.
