Peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, April 6, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife Barb and family, Robert Christopher "Bobby" Yates, transitioned to eternal life.

He was born on March 17, 1963 in Faulkner, Maryland to Agnes Elizabeth and Joseph Bernard "Mack" Yates where he grew up in a loving home.

On June 25, 2013, Bobby and Barb were united in marriage after 25 years of courtship, Barb finally said YES.

Bobby received his education in the Charles County public school system and attended Bowie State University in Maryland beginning the fall of 1981 to 1983 where he played football. He worked for Jimmy Richards and Sons Excavating Company from March 27, 1990 until his passing. He began as a truck driver but moved up to a truck foreman within the company. His work ethic was truly outstanding.

Bobby loved sitting in his favorite recliner with his feet up with a remote in his hands with Barb waiting on him. He loved watching all types of professional sports but his favorite team was the Washington Commanders/Redskins. He was a dedicated fan because when he and his brothers got together it usually ended up in a very loud conversation. He also loved fishing with his co-workers/family. He loved riding his lawn mowers and keeping his yard neat and gospel music. His favorite daytime show was the Young and the Restless. He was a hard worker and loved his job. Never missed a day from work until recently when he became ill. He worked doing what he loved, working with dump trucks. At a young age while working with his dad and his dump truck the Mean Green he carried that experience into his adult life and made a career within that industry. Bobby respected and loved his mom and dad unconditionally. Bobby loved eating and deviled eggs were his favorite where he would eat his share and more. Bobby had several nicknames for Barbara; Barb, Babe and Honey. They were together for thirty four years. Bobby loved Barbara unconditionally, fiercely and protectively and with his whole heart and soul. Bob loved his mother in law, Ms. Ruby, his sisters and brother in laws; his niece Crystal and nephew Jamel like family. He was a member of St. Mary's Newport Church in Charlotte Hall, Maryland for over 50 years. Bobby lived a full and happy life.

Preceded in death by his parents Agnes Elizabeth and Joseph Bernard (Mack) Yates and brother James Preston Hicks.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife Barb; three children; Shadonna Yates, Marcus Yates and Le'Nessa Stewart; ten grandchildren; nine siblings; Michael (Vanessa) Hicks, Diane Yates, Phyllis (Francis) Dorsey, Joseph (Denise), David (LaTonya), Mary (James) McPherson, Charles (Toni), George and John Yates. He is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.
