Jerry Grider, 78, of Plainfield, passed away on April 9, 2022 surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born on September 28, 1943 to the late James "Jim" and Nannie Grider. Jerry retired from Detroit Diesel Allison in 1996 after 30 years. He was a proud lifelong member of the NRA. Jerry belonged to the American Legion Post #118 and the VFW in Martinsville. He enjoyed fishing, restoring old cars, shooting archery and rifles in his spare time. Jerry loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and grand animals. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Grider; sister, OraMae Hester. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13, 2022 in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be April 14, 2022 in the funeral home at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his daughters, Diana Kay (Rick) Hollin and Jeanna (Tyler) DeMott; sisters, Phyllis Cooper, Mary Ann Land and Debbie Mace; grandchildren, Steve and Sarah Oprisu, Carlee and CJ Fulton and Elli Charleswood.
