It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Alfonso Aragon Hinojosa, 85, on November 7, 2005. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
Alfonso was born April 8, 1920, in Walsenburg, Colorado, to Jesus Garza Hinojosa and Lucinda de Aragon Hinojosa. He was the seventh of eleven children.
Alphonso was a U.S. Army Veteran serving as a paratrooper in the Infantry
from 1937 to 1965. He served his county honorably and nobly during World War II. He made hundreds of Paratrooper jumps during the war. After the war he served in Germany for many years. He retired from the Army as a Sergeant Major.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy (Howell) Hinojosa; his parents Jesus and Lucinda Hinojosa; siblings: Dora Lucero, Alphonso I, Gus Hinojosa, Jess Hiney, Lucille Lira-Muniz and Ray Hinojosa.
He is survived by his daughters, Eleanor H. Weeks and Debra H. Hannah; brothers, Herman Hinojosa, Denver, CO; Fred Hinojosa, Parkerville, CA; sisters, Mary Jane Hoskins, Los Banos, CA; and Stella Apodaca, San Jose, CA.
Alfonso will be buried in a private service at the Geneva Cemetery, Geneva, Florida. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to a Veterans' charity of your choice in his name.
