Vincent Lorinzer Grant, 90, of Hartford, devoted husband for 63 years of Orinthia (Simpson) Grant, transitioned peacefully on Friday, December 17, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Vincent was born in Portland, Jamaica on February 26, 1931, son of the late Kenneth Grant and Mildred Clark. It was in Jamaica on October 11, 1958, that he would marry his childhood sweetheart, Orinthia, who he loved and adored, and they began to raise their family. While living in Jamaica, he was fortunate enough to have several careers, and was employed by the police department and as a carpenter and tradesman for many years. After migrating to the United States, he worked for Peerless Woodworking as a cabinet maker until his retirement. He was also a member of the Caribbean American Society.

Vincent was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His children will always remember him as a "father of all fathers." He was a role model and an example to his family of how to honor and have respect for others. He had an immeasurable amount love, patience, understanding, and kindness for those he knew and loved. Vincent was a well-rounded family man and always looked forward to spending quality time with his family and friends. While living in Jamaica, when his children were younger, he would often surprise them by waking them up and treat them to a night out or a meal somewhere. Fridays were also a special time, and he would give them money to go on a shopping spree at various stores in Jamaica; and these were the times they looked forward to. No matter how old his children were, he made sure to call and check on them almost daily and would offer any help or support that they may have needed. He leaves a legacy of beautiful memories that will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Vincent had a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, was a God-fearing man, and a member of Saint Martin's Episcopal Church, Hartford. He spent quality time reading his scriptures and devotionals. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cricket, dominoes. Music was also one of his passions and whenever possible, he would listen to some of his favorite music, especially Reggae. While living in Jamaica, Vincent was a well-respected DJ and would play at weddings, birthday parties, and other formal events. He would end almost every event with "Goodnight My Love" by Dennis Brown, who he loved to listen to.

The passing of Vincent will leave a permanent ache in the hearts of those who loved him. Along with his devoted wife, Orinthia, he leaves to cherish his memories, four sons, Geary Grant of FL, Dennis Grant and his wife of Bloomfield, Kenneth Grant of Hartford, and Michael Grant of Hartford;two daughters, Marcia Grant- Weaver of Hartford, and Angela Grant of Washington, DC; one sister, Kathleen Grant of Windsor; two brothers-in-law, Alvin Carley and his wife of FL, and Alfonso Titus and his wife of Jamaica, twenty grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; cousins, Leroy Worghs and his wife of Hartford, Ador Hynter of Jamaica, Joan Chapagnie and family of Montreal, Joyce Smith and family of Stamford; family friends, Louis Chambers, Aubrey Royal, and a host of relatives and good friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Raphalather Davis; his cousin, Mylat Dunkley (Little Kitty); granddaughter, Casandra Grant, and son-in-law, Lorenzia Weaver.
