Michael "Gator" James Lindstrom, 57, of Ripley, N.Y., passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pa., surrounded by his family.

Michael was born in Jamestown, N.Y. on March 16, 1965, the son of Donna (VanEvery) and the late Grant Lindstrom.

Michael graduated from Ripley Central School in 1983. He worked at Red Wing for 25 years previously known as Carriage House as a maintenance mechanic. He was recently employed at Dunkirk Metals for almost five years also as a maintenance mechanic.

Michael is predeceased by his maternal grand parents, Walter and Jan VanEvery; his paternal grandparents, Axle and Lola Lindstrom; his father, Grant Lindstrom; his nephew, Aaron Waters; his beloved Old English Mastiffs: Hank and Bella.

Surviving are his siblings: two brothers: Howard (Jeanna) Lindstrom and Donald Lindstrom and one sister, Prudence (Alan) Waters; his forever friend, Andy Newman; his three daughters: Ashley (William) Means, Danielle Gill and Kailee Colburn; his son, Andrew Lindstrom; his five grandchildren: Riley, Jayden, Carter, Sophia and Athena, and a grand-paw to Hulk; several cousins, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Michael was a man of few words but enjoyed spending time with his close friend, Andy and his son, Andrew. His hobbies were working on vehicles, especially his 1972 Chevrolet Nova, collecting Hot Wheels and model cars, hunting with his family on occasion, and creating metal sculptures such as motorcycles and roadsters with nuts and bolts.

Michael was also known for thinking 'out of the box' building most anything from the ground up that was clever, useful, and purposeful. In his younger years Michael enjoyed drag racing on his Arctic Cat snowmobiles and volunteered his time for many years as the Westfield youth wrestling coach.

There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will take place at a later time and at the convenience of the family.

All arrangements have been entrusted to the MATHEWS FUNERAL HOME, 104 W. Main St., Ripley, N.Y.
