Services for D.F. Underwood were held in the Bowie Church of Christ. All business houses in Bowie closed for the funeral service. In 1871, he moved with his parents to Mexia where he grew to manhood. In 1889, he married Miss Maude Throckmorton. Survived by his wife; seven children - Ernest Underwood, Miss Lillie Underwood, Oscar Underwood, Mrs. J.H. Garlington, Clyde Underwood, Mrs. H.W. Gustin, Rev. Floyd Underwood; 30 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
