He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1971. He professed his hope in Christ at an early age joining St. James Missionary Baptist Church Humboldt, TN. He served as a member of Usher Board #1 and #2, he assisted with the Junior Ushers, and volunteered yearly delivering lunches to the community with the Feed the Needy program.
He was employed at Owens Corning Fiberglass in Jackson, TN for several years. He then worked at Chicago Metallic Bakeware in Humboldt, TN and Milan Arsenal in Milan, TN for many years. His most recent employment was with DANA Incorporated in Humboldt, TN until his retirement on September 6, 2019.
His mother, Everlena Smith, sister Gail Smith, brother, Michael Smith, and his nephews, Graylen Smith and Jordan VonStein preceded him in death.
