Born in Bridgeton, NJ, he was the son of the late J. Robert McGowan and Ruth R. McGowan. He was a Bridgeton H.S. Class of 1965 graduate. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a past commander of the American Legion Shoemaker Post #95 in Bridgeton, NJ. He was previously employed by Owens-Illinois Glass Company and Agway in Bridgeton. He worked for many years at his cousin's picnic park in Brandywine, PA and he worked for Costco in Vacaville as the head of security before retiring in 2017.
He is survived by his wife, Bridget McGowan (Messina); his daughter, Heather Coggins (David Jr.); his son, Brian McGowan (Sara); daughters, Stacie Christian (Blake), Jennifer Jones (Eric), and Stephanie Jimenez; his sister, Jean Longbottom; and brother, Donald McGowan (Millie); as well as 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
There will be a graveside military ceremony held on June 7, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. Friends and family are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Bobby's name.
