Barry Martin passed away at his home on April 6, 2022, after a 3-year long battle with lung cancer and contracted sepsis. Barry was born in Uniontown, Fayette, PA, on March 10, 1941. After joining the US Navy where he served on the USS Antietam during the beginning of the Vietnam Era. After discharge, he stayed in Pensacola & married Twila Mae Buffkin having 2 sons, Michael Lee, Mark Ewing & a daughter, Amanda Michelle.
Barry was a master welder by trade after going to trade school in PA & after retirement continued to create many utility carts for customers being very artistic. In his youth he loved motorcycles & in later days, gardening. He was a proven descendant of the Mayflower Society thru William Mullins & Son of the American Revolution thru his Patriot & 5x Great Grandfather, John Hopwood, Village founder of Hopwood. Barry lived in Hopwood with his beloved Grandfather in Hopwood for several years. His grandfather woud have him clean up the Hopwood Cemetery where unbeknownst to him many of his ancestors were buried, including his Revolutionary & 1812 Patriots, namely, John Hopwood & Moses Hopwood.
Barry was preceded in death by his father and mother, CPO C. F. (Markie) Martin and
Ruth Eleanor (Mitchell) Martin and his two sons Mark Ewing Martin a hit & run victim, and Michael Lee Martin, a Covid 19 victim.
Barry is survived by his 2nd wife of over 35 years Mona (McCary), her son A. J. Davis, his sister, Bonnie (Martin) Cornish (Richard, Sr.), their children Julie Welles and Richard
Cornish, Il, his daughter Amanda Michelle (Martin) Nelson (Joe), three
grandchildren, Kenny Burnham (Christine), Kristopher Burnham, Kameron
Burnham and four great-grandchildren Branson, Micah, Emily, and Oakley, plus grand
nephews and niece, Sky B. and Eli Welles, and Ashleigh Cornish.
A Service was held at Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla., on April 22, 2022. The NW Patriot
Guard Riders escorted the family & friends onto the base for his service to our Country.
