Heflin - James Lamar Perry, 88, of Heflin, Alabama, was called home to be with the Lord on April 7th, 2022.

Lamar was born on July 6th, 1933, in Rosewood, Alabama. He married Theta Ladell Griffith, of Eulaton, Alabama, on December 31, 1960, and they remained devoted to one another for almost 60 years. Together, they raised two sons. Lamar was a loving husband, a strong father, and a proud grandfather. While he worked at various jobs throughout his life, providing and caring for his family was his passion and his calling.

Lamar was preceded in death by his wife, Theta Ladell (Griffith) Perry; his father, James Elbert Perry; his mother, Mattie Cumy (Kerr) Perry; two grandsons, Truman Burch Perry & Christopher Tanard Young; and a great grandson, Adin Christopher Young.

Lamar is survived by his son, Timothy Lamar Perry (wife Carol Scott Perry and grandchildren Mckinte' Young, Tiffany Young, and Gabriel Young along with five great-grandchildren) and son, Tracy Lance Perry (wife Robbi Burch Perry and grandchildren James Lamar Perry and John Larkin Perry).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of James Lamar Perry to Anniston Bible Church (3230 Coleman Road, Anniston, AL).

The family will receive friends and neighbors at Dryden Funeral Home on Sunday, April 10th from 2PM to 4PM.

A private graveside service will follow with only immediate family in attendance, Rev. Bob St. John of Anniston Bible Church officiating.

Pallbearers include Timothy Lamar Perry, Tracy Lance Perry, James Lamar Perry, John Larkin Perry, and Patrick Brian Taylor.

Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
