Diane E. Williams was born to the late Harry E. Hicks Sr. and Helen E. Hicks in Atlantic City, New Jersey on October 18, 1938. She is the oldest of four siblings.
Diane graduated from Atlantic City Public Schools, was married, and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. She was baptized at St. James A.M.E. Church in Atlantic City. In 1976 she married James Williams. Between them they have five children.
Diane received a degree in Early Childhood Education in the 1990's while working for the Veterans Administration where she retired from in 2007. During her time serving with the Veterans Administration, she won many awards, including the distinguished Special Achievement Award for Superior Performance for her contribution to improving operations.
Diane was an active member of Lee Memorial A.M.E. Church, serving on the Stewardess Board for many years. Diane also served as President and member of Eta Phi Beta Sorority for many years.
All who knew her share pride and are thankful for having such a loving and kind friend. Even after she became ill, she showed/smiled that loving sweet, beautiful smile.
Diane has started her new life in heaven. She leaves to mourn husband of 46 years, James Williams, along with 1 brother Harry E. Hicks Jr. (Laura) El Paso Texas, 1 sister Olga Hicks, Euclid, Ohio and sister Anita Bennett (deceased). Her children - Yvetta Murdock (Taft), Ohio; Khadijah Shabazz, California; Felicia Pearson (Ronald), Ohio; Sheldon Williams (Cora), Ohio; and Monica Williams, Ohio. Grandchildren- David Morton, California; Marius Shabazz, California; Nicole Debose, Ohio; Nelsalina Shabazz (Levelle), California; Drew Pearson (Barresha), Georgia; Autumn Christian, California; Matthew Pearson (Veronique), Georgia; Najalah Shabazz, California; Niemah Shabazz, California, Alex Williams, Ohio; Cristan Williams, Ohio; and a host of great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
