Donald "Don" Williams was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.  He left this world on April 5, 2022, at age 87, joining his Lord in heaven.

Don was born in Santa Monica, California on April 4, 1935.  Three years later, he wandered into the lives of Sidney and Blanche Williams in Kilgore, Texas.  Without a stable home, at three years old he essentially chose this couple as his parents and shortly after, they formally adopted him.  At the time, the Great Depression was ravaging the United States and his family moved regularly in search of jobs.  As a result, Don experienced more in his childhood than many do in their entire lifetime.  After graduating high school, Don joined the navy in search of further adventure.

Following his service in the navy, Don sought out various professions, including cattle wrangler on a ranch in Oklahoma.  Not finding fulfillment in these endeavors, he went to Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.  It was there that Don met the love of his life, Dorothy Kennedy, who would become an anchor of stability for the remainder of his long life.  In short order, he married Dorothy, who gladly became Dorothy Williams.

Don's nomadic life became one that was steadfast and productive.  After marriage, he began working for a company as a payroll clerk and continued with that company until he retired decades later as the regional credit manager.  Along the way, he and Dorothy had two children, Dwayne Williams and Dana Williams.

During his life, he faced happiness and sorrow both, but in all things, he learned to give the credit to his Lord and Savior.  As he aged, his reliance on God grew daily.  With this knowledge, we all gain comfort knowing his life is now in a place of peace and joy.

Don's favorite pastime was simply people.  He never met a stranger and could often be found talking at length to those he just met.  He was always quick with a joke or a satirical commentary about life in general, but he was just as quick to come to anyone's aid who was in need.  His life brought happiness to everyone who crossed his path.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on April 9, 2022, at the Klein Campus of Spring Baptist Church on Bridgestone Lane in Spring.  The family requests that no flowers be sent.  In the alternative, please make a donation to the Imagine Campaign at the Klein Campus of Spring Baptist Church.
