Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. He enlisted in New York on 22 March 1870 and served in Co I, 4th US Cavalry. On 8 December 1874 in an engagement near Muchaque Canyon in Texas, his gallantry during a long pursuit and engagement against a band of Indians resulted in his award of the Medal of Honor. He was discharged at Denison, Texas on 22 March 1875.

He returned to New York and died there on 19 May 1907. He was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, NY.
