Last Rites Are Held Saturday For Mrs. Searle

Last rites for Mrs. Harriet Ellen Searle were held Saturday afternoon at the Bouton Memorial Home with the Rev. Richard Chase, a close friend, in charge, Mrs. Harold Bouton sang two of her favorite hymns. "In The Garden" and "Beyond The Sunset" with Mrs. Lowell Pierce at the organ.

She was laid to rest in Princeville cemetery.

Pallbearers were Clarence Pullen, Glen Bateman, Johnny Symonds, Lawrence Powers, Leslie Harrison and Merle Smith.

Although she had been in frail health for some time, her condition was not considered critical and her death April 27 was a shock to her family, neighbors and friends.

The daughter of Lester and Cora Distler Mendenhall, she was born January 7, 1914 in Jubilee township. She was educated in the Peoria schools and graduated from the Peoria Central high school.

During World War II she was employed as a truck driver for Le Tourneau company and then returned to manage the home farm.

Feb 14, 1948, she was married to Floyd Searle and lived on his farm close to her home and loved ones.

She is survived by her husband, mother, two sisters and other relatives
