It seems that Alfred was Mary's child (born before her marriage in 1886) but raised by his grandparents (Mary's parents), John Seip and Elizabeth Wahl Seip.
Alfred married Rosa/Rosina Knipfel on April 10, 1912, at Petersburg, Wilmot Township, Ontario. Rosa, born February 16, 1892, was a daughter of August Knipfel and Matilda Becker.
In addition to a stillborn son born on March 27, 1913, Alfred and Rosa had three sons:
- Russel "Rusty" (1917-1992)
- William "Bill" (1919-1969)
- John Donald "Jack" (1922-2000)
