Elmo C. Livingston Jr. was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Coleman. He graduated from Kilgore High School in 1945 and received his undergraduate and master's degrees from Texas A&M University in electrical engineering. In his junior year, Elmo served as commander of the Signal Corps and as a senior, he was president of the Class of 1949. He also served as a reserve commissioned officer in the Officer Reserve Corps in the Army of the United States as a second lieutenant until 1953. After graduation, Elmo worked at General Electric in Lynn, Mass., where he met his bride, Marilyn, in 1950, to whom he was married for 60 years.
After transfers to Schenectady, N.Y., and Atlanta, Ga., Elmo, Marilyn and their two daughters moved to Fort Worth in 1956. There he worked as an aerosystems engineer in Stability and Flight Controls, initially at Convair working on the B-58 and B-1 bombers. Later at General Dynamics, as chief and then manager of Stability and Flight Control, he worked on the F-111, the RB-57F, and the F-16.
After retirement, Elmo studied and obtained his stockbroker's Series 7 license, working in the field for 10 years. He filled much of his time studying investments. His free time was spent with Marilyn and his family. He loved fishing with Brendan, working on investments with Kim and helping Terrie on her political campaigns. Even when ill during the last few years of his life, he loved spending time at Kim's KIMAREL ranch enjoying the western sky, beautiful sunsets and musical birds.
