Mary "Joan" Gardner, lovingly known as "Belvie" by her family, went to Heaven on Sunday, April 3, 2022. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and she was surrounded by loved ones.

Joan was born on Good Friday, April 23, 1943 in Pensacola, FL. She was the youngest daughter of parents, John Emery and Elizabeth Getzendaner Haygood. She attended local schools and graduated from Escambia High School in 1961. She kept in touch with many high school friends and attended her 60th high school reunion last year.

Joan spent her early adult years traveling the country as a Navy spouse. She lived in and got to travel to many beautiful places throughout the years. She eventually settled back in Pensacola with her husband, Jack Gardner, with whom she spent 40+ loving years.
Joan had a zest for life that couldn't go unnoticed. She belonged to many groups and organizations and was loved by everyone who crossed her path. She was a talented and award-winning artist and spent many years cultivating her skills. She was a member of Quayside Art Gallery for over a decade and was involved in numerous art study groups throughout the years. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church. She had a passion for interior design and traveling but her greatest love was for her family.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, and her loving husband, Jack.
Joan is survived by her children, Kathleen Mann (Anthony), Skip Wax (Kristen); her grandchildren, Jennifer Epstein (Ross), Jessica James (Sammy), and Connor and Ryan Wax; her great-grandchild, Ellaura Joan Epstein; many friends including ex-husband, Gary Wax.
A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00am Friday, April 8, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church located at 6 E Wright St. Pensacola, FL 32501.

The family asks that bright colors be worn in honor of her vibrant life.
