He is survived by his brothers Jim and his wife Cindy Miller, John and his wife Cheryl Miller, his son Randy and his wife JoAnne Miller, his daughter Tamatha Miller, his three granddaughters Danielle, Samantha and Cassandra, his former wife Kathleen Hughes as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joseph had a heart for helping people and spent his life in various types of service and sacrifice for others.

He served in the United States Navy as a submariner between 1963 and 1969 and held the rank of Interior Communications – First Class.

He was a dedicated member of the Dunns Corners Fire Department for 43 years holding the rank of Captain for Station One and was the acting President up until his passing. Joseph was also a lifetime member of the Charlestown Ambulance – Rescue Service and served there for 31 years where he held many ranks and positions including Commander and President.

A strong believer in Jesus, Joseph was also involved in many church activities at the Pawcatuck Seventh Day Baptist and First Hopkinton Seventh Day Baptist churches including but not limited to, Praise and Worship, Youth Activities and Church Leadership.

Joseph was a devoted father and grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. He was a sweet and gentle soul who loved music in all capacities, painting and photography as well as computer programming. He loved to spend his days at the Mystic Seaport, flying his various planes on his flight simulators and relaxing with his best friend, an Australian Shepherd named Toby.

We are relieved that he is no longer in pain and dealing with illness but he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We will see you on the other side Pop.
