Thomas, Dorothy E., 88, Northern Cambria, PA, passed away peacefully April 5, 2022, surrounded by her family at The Villa Crest, Johnstown. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Born June 3, 1933, in Hastings, one of the twelve children of John and Elizabeth (Sipos) Kolonay. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband John, who she met at a local, community dance and with whom she enjoyed 49 years of marriage until his death in 2008; son Dr. Gary Thomas and infant son Glenn; brothers, John, Eugene, and James Kolonay; and sisters, Marie Miller, Margaret Chervenak, Catherine Sibert, Theresa Gaydos, and Suzanne Dumm. She will be greatly missed by daughter, Nadine Clarke, wife of John Clarke Sr., Northern Cambria; daughter-in-law, Corry (Whorl) Thomas, Johnstown; grandchildren, John Clarke Jr, husband of Kelly (Sherry); Abigail (Clarke) wife of James Malloy; Jordan Thomas; and great-grandsons James and Jackson Clarke. She is also survived by her brothers, George, and Leo Kolonay; sister, Elizabeth Tamburri; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a graduate of Hastings High School. She will be remembered as an avid reader and a member of the Hastings Public Library Book Club. She enjoyed taking family day trips, attending the annual family reunion, having tea parties, and making pierogies with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a librarian and teacher's aide in both the local Catholic and public schools. Dorothy was a devout Catholic who guided her family in faith and was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Beautiful memories of Dorothy and the traditions she held dear will live on through her family. Friends will be received from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, April 8 at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc. 1303 Bigler Ave, Northern Cambria, PA. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Holy Cross Chapel, Fr. Mark Groeger officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dorothy to Hastings Public Library.
