Gary Grant Fields, 84 years, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

Gary was born on December 26, 1937 in Dodge, Oklahoma to the late Charley and Louise (Garvin) Fields. He married Carolyn Kay Shaver on June 10, 1956 in Anderson, Missouri and to this union two sons were born. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2019. Gary worked at B.F. Goodrich in Miami, Oklahoma for 30 years. He enjoyed running his Beagles and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and east Newton Patriots. Gary married Joanne Swango on December 25, 2021; she survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn Kay Fields; son, Kerry Brent Fields; sister, Charlotte Gould; brother-in-law, Ronnie Solow.

Gary is survived by his son, Rod Fields (Brenda) of Tiff City, Missouri; stepchildren, Scott Swango (Margaret) of Joplin, Missouri and their children, Seth (Keeli) and Sara, Kara Kneib of Joplin, Missouri and her children, Lexey, Lindey and Laney; sisters, Maggie Fogle (Haskell) of Falls River, Kansas, Barbara Solow of Smyrna, Carol Burrow (Don) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tedra Gwartney (Mike) of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; five grandchildren Kyle Fields (Kelsie), Kade Fields (Meagan), Brent Fields (Rachel), Brandon Fields (Emily) and Caroline Fields; five great grandchildren, Remi Fields, Kase Fields, Hensli Fields, Kamdyn Fields and Kope Fields; as well as a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Gary.

Funeral services for Gary will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Buffalo Creek Baptist Church in Tiff City, Missouri. Pastor Justin Steadman will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri. Those honoring Gary's Life by serving as pallbearers are Kyle Fields, Kade fields, Brent Fields, Brandon Fields, Tyler Shaver and Logan St. Clair. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The family will receive friends at this time.
