CHARLESTON, IL – Brenda K. Ferguson, 67, of Charleston, Illinois passed away peacefully Friday, April 1, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, Illinois. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Adams Funeral Chapel. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until service time. Pastor Scott Sims will be officiating the service. Memorials in her honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project and left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920.

Brenda was born on April 19, 1954, in Mattoon, Illinois the daughter of James Rex and Roberta Jean (Towle) Dukeman. She married James Randall Ferguson on June 25, 1971, in Mattoon, Illinois. They spent forty plus years together before he preceded her in death on November 11, 2014. She is survived by her three children, Kevin Ferguson of Charleston, Illinois, Robert (Lola) Ferguson of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, and Georgeanna Callow of Charleston, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Derek (Tiffany) Ferguson, Brian (Sarah) Hardy, Ashley Hardy, Christopher Ferguson, Robin (Eric) Minor, Ryan Ferguson, Miles Callow, and Jakeb (Savannah) Callow; eight great-grandchildren, Jayd Ferguson, Abigayl Ferguson, Morgan Callow, Dominic Callow, Zayden Newgent, Wyatt Hardy, Evelyn Hardy, and Samuel Hardy; two sisters, Teresa (Dennis) Yingst, and Deborah H. (Ronald) Duzan; two brothers, Rex (Charlene) Dukeman, and Greg (Jeanine) Dukeman; and special friend, Larry Gossett. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James; and son-in-law Shannon Callow.

Brenda graduated from Charleston High School. She worked at Eastern Illinois University as a Building Service Worker Subforeman before retiring in 2010. Brenda was a member of the Elks Lodge #623, VFW Post #1592, and the Loyal Order of the Moose #1388. She enjoyed her time traveling and shopping. She had a very special place in her heart for her grandchildren and loved taking them to the movies and swimming during the summer.
