Robert James Barker of Salinas, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the age of 66

Robert was his formal name; but to his family and friends he was Bob, Bobby or as his niece Kasey referred to him, Uncle Bobbert; He answered to all.

Born on July, 25, 1955 in Watsonville to parents, Donald Nason Barker and Lorraine Marie Cursi Barker, he resided in Castroville until 1974 when his family relocated to Salinas.

Graduating North Salinas High in 1973, he loved learning and computers was his interest. He started at Hartnell College; later transferring and graduating from Chico State. Bob held many jobs including a job in Cupertino where he started working for Motorola, and was later employed by US Windpower, Four Phase, Oracle leading to his final journey of self employment. He continued maintaining his craft with online classes, books, podcasts, whatever media available. Bob's work allowed him to travel the world and experience life in other countries and throughout the United States. He transferred his love for working on "IT stuff" to volunteer his time and knowledge for several nonprofits, (Meals on Wheels Salinas, Schools, North Monterey County Chamber and the Castroville Artichoke Festival).

Bob was an avid lover of all kinds of art, music, reading, history, movies, he was never short on topics for conversation and enjoyed sharing his opinions. He will be missed!

Bob is survived by his siblings: Lonn (Janice) Barker, Marina Ca, Bambi Barker, Sand City, CA; Denise (Randall) Amerison, Jakin GA; niece: Kasey (Josh) Norlund Marina CA; nephew: Joey Amerison, San Francisco CA; and his loving sidekick and furry friend, Artie

is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Lorraine Barker, maternal grandparents, Hugo and Lena Cursi, and Paternal Grandparents August and Helen Barker.

Bob will be cremated and his ashes scattered at sea. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later time.
