O.C. Cannon Jr., 79, of White Hall, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022. He was born March 24, 1943 in Pine Bluff to O.C. Cannon Sr. and Lucy Mae Walter Cannon.

At a young age, O.C. started working with his father at Cannon Construction, which later incorporated as Cannon Contracting where you could find him any day of the week on a piece of heavy equipment. O.C. was well-respected and his admirable work ethic was widely known. Everyone knew when he gave his word, as the old saying goes, you could take it to the bank. His dirt work continued into his hobbies, he planted fruit trees on his favorite piece of land, had a garden every year, and had fields of sunflowers for dove hunting. The only way to get him off equipment was to take him hunting. He loved deer and dove hunting, but especially rabbit hunting and the close group of friends that made it feel like a weekly family reunion. He loved being surrounded by friends and family. He loved planning impromptu cook-outs from fish fries to post-hunt breakfasts, and as some of you have experienced his famous coon roast. He was known for his generosity, particularly around Christmas, when he always gave out hams and pecans to everyone he knew. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, the anchor of the family. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and sisters, Bonita Huddleston, Opal Marie Casteel, Barbara Ann Thompson and Betty Gracie.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jean Christian Cannon, whom he married December 31, 1959 in Altheimer; children, Chuck Cannon of Warren, Jim Massey of Warren, Tanya Duncan (James) of Hot Springs, John Cannon (Terri) of White Hall, Joe Cannon (Kelly) of White Hall, Danielle Baker (Ronnie) of Sheridan, and Ron Gray, whom he loved like a son; grandchildren, Megan Wallace (Tim), McCall Cannon, Drake Cannon (Camille), Clay Cannon (Lauren), Madison Duncan and Lillian Baker; great grandchildren, Caver Wallace and Cannon Wallace; brother, Douglas Cannon (Carol), Sidney Dillion, life long hunting buddy; and a host of family members and friends.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, April 8, 2022 at First Baptist Church of White Hall with Rev. Paul Williams officiating. The service will be livestreamed for anyone unable to attend. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the church. Arrangements by Ralph Robinson and Son.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to First Baptist Church White Hall, P.O. Box 20307, White Hall, AR 71612 or to a charity of donor's choice.
