James "Jim" Robert Ott, age 97 of Bloomingdale, OH, peacefully passed away at his daughter's home on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

Son of the late William Edward and Edna May (Gill) Ott, he was born September 10, 1924 in Island Creek, OH.

Jim is preceded in death by his first wife Agnes Eileen (Lazear) Ott and second wife, Frances; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte Eileen and Ronald L. Conaway; brothers, Bill, Chuck, and Bert Ott.

Protestant by faith, Jim was a member of Unionport Christian Church and also attended services at Amsterdam Church of God.

A man of many talents, Jim grew up tending the family farm and as a young man he began his career working at International Harvester as Archie Tipton's right-hand-man. He was later employed at the H&M Garage as a mechanic, and earned the reputation in the Ohio Valley that "if Jim Ott can't fix it, it's not worth fixing." From there, Jim went on to assist in the development and management of Spring Hills Golf Course, filling positions such as a greenskeeper and maintaining machinery. During this time he was sought after to also assist Red Oaks Country Club. After retirement of several years, he returned to work at Castle Shannon Golf until retiring again at the age of 74. If he wasn't on the greens or under the hood of a car, Jim was in the woods coon hunting with family, buddies, and his dogs. He always came back with some hides but an even better story.

Jim is survived by his sister, Lillian Eldora Myers (soon to be 100 years old); daughter, Darlene Fae Dindal; grandsons, Eric L. (Shannon Keller) and Jonathan M.(Gina Peveich) Conaway; granddaughter, Mary Eileen Dindal; great-granddaughters, Gianna Peveich and Charlotte Conaway; great- grandson, Jacob Conaway; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

On behalf of his family, may we express our gratitude to everyone who has ever blessed Jim's life.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Thursday, April 7th from 4-7 p.m., where funeral services will be held and officiated by Lay Minister Dorman Mader, Friday, April 8th at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Unionport Cemetery.
