Rick May December 5, 1950 – April 2, 2022

Arthur Ricky (Rick) May was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, on December 5, 1950. He went to Liberty Elementary School, West Junior High, and Ponca City High School, graduating in 1969. He married Kalen Harris on June 20, 1970, and the two of them graduated with Associate Degrees from Northern Oklahoma College in 1971. They then moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where Rick worked and finished college at CSU (now UCO) in 1975. After college, he worked for Clarence L. Boyd selling heavy construction machinery, then worked for Boecking Machinery selling Caterpillar heavy equipment. In 1986, Rick and Kalen and their two sons, Rick and Zach, moved to Colorado where Rick went to work for Wagner Equipment selling Caterpillar heavy equipment. Rick worked for Wagner until he retired in January of 2016.

In the 70's and until 1986, Kalen worked at the FAA Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City. While there, she and Rick joined the FAA Flying Club where they both took flying lessons and got their Private Pilot licenses. Rick loved flying and they enjoyed many years of flying adventures together.

In 1983, Rick and Kalen bought property in Lake City, Colorado, and began building a log cabin outside of the small town of Lake City in southwestern Colorado. Several friends, relatives, and Po-Hi grads helped build the framework for the cabin that first summer, including Jim Stieber, Lonny Baldwin, and Diana McWhorter and her husband. Over the years many friends spent time with Rick at that cabin, framing it, building a deck, and doing what they all loved best – riding dirt bikes and fishing. Many family reunions took place there in Lake City also, and Rick and Kalen enjoyed some summers there after they both retired.

In addition to riding dirt bikes with friends and his sons, Rick also loved riding his Harley motorcycle on many trips over the years. Most of his trips were with friends, and a few times Kalen was invited to ride along. Along with his love of motorcycles was his love for OU football. He didn't attend many games; rather he enjoyed watching the games in his living room on the big screen TV with Rick and Zach. He was excited about OU football this coming season with a new coach and new quarterback.

After Rick's retirement in January 2016, and Kalen's retirement in January 2017, they moved back to Oklahoma and lived on Rick's family farm outside of Covington, Oklahoma. On April 2, 2022, Rick passed away at their home after a long battle with cancer.

Rick is survived by his wife, Kalen; by his son Rick and daughter-in-law Kendall and their two daughters Emma and Mackenzie, of Marshall, OK, and his son Zach, of Longmont, CO. He is also survived by a sister Vicki and her husband Jerry of Guthrie, OK, and many nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy, and his two brothers, Terry and Nick.

There is no formal service planned, but the family is hosting a Celebration of Life for Rick at the family farm on Saturday, April 9, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. The address is 14501 South Highway 74, Marshall, Oklahoma 73056 (5 miles south of Covington on Hwy 74). In lieu of flowers, the family would like to plant trees at the farm in Rick's memory.
