George Williams, Jr.
Tuesday, May 6th, 1924 - Sunday, April 3rd, 2022

George W. Williams, Jr. passed away on April 3, 2022 at the age of 97. He was born on May 6, 1924 in Dover, TN, the son of the late George W. Williams, Sr. and Carrie Bessie Parker Williams.

He graduated from Dover High School and joined the U.S. Army ROTC program. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 3rd Infantry and 3rd Signal Corps. After the war, he graduated collage at the University of Tennessee with a degree in engineering. He went on to work at Hazeltine Corporation as a Field Engineer in Long Island, New York.

In 1989 he retired and returned to his beloved town of Dover, TN. He was a member of the Fort Donelson Memorial United Methodist Church, Dover, TN.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Roger A. Williams, Archie M. Williams, sisters, Verna P. Joiner, and Georgia Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sue P. Williams, his sister-in-law, Willouise Williams, his children, Miles Williams (Shelly, Meagan and Sarah), Carrie Liebler (Tom and Joey), and Mary Williams.

He was an avid outdoorsman, loved boating, fishing and hunting.

A graveside service will be held April 13, 2022 at 11:00 am at Hillcrest Cemetery, Dover, TN with Bro. Don Bailey officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family request memorials may be made in his memory to Fort Donelson United Methodist Church, 420 Church St., Dover, TN.
